According to the hospital's statement, doctors and students of the University of Health Sciences Adana Faculty of Medicine warned patients and their relatives against smoking during a walk on Health Street inside the hospital.

Participants distributed brochures and provided information about the harms of smoking.

Citizens also supported the doctors and students who attended the event wearing clothes with anti-smoking slogans.

Some smokers promised the event organizers to "quit smoking".

Hospital Chief Physician Assoc. Dr. Mehmet Volkan Harput stated that they, as academics, administrators and doctors, supported the "Smokefree University" study initiated by the students to fight against smoking and said, "We believe that the efforts of young people will bring better results in the fight against smoking. We will win this war with young people." he said.
