ADANA City Hospital Gastroenterology Surgery Administrative Officer Prof. Dr. Alper Sözek stated that while colon and rectum cancers, which are generally seen in the 50s in Turkey, have decreased to 30 in the Mediterranean Region due to nutritional and genetic factors, he said: "We see that in delayed cases, the cancer spreads to the liver, lung or abdominal membrane." These cancers are much more aggressive in young patients. He said that we recommend that all patients with poor nutrition and bad defecation habits should have a screening, especially if they have a family history.

Within the scope of the 6th Çukurova Gastro-Intestinal Diseases and Surgery Congress, live surgery was performed simultaneously on 3 separate cases for the first time in Turkey, including laparoscopic colorectal, obesity surgery and anorectal surgery branches, at Adana City Hospital. With this method, many newly qualified and assistant doctors had the opportunity to receive one-on-one practical training in the operating room environment from the most competent and experienced doctors in their branches. Prof. from Çukurova University, Department of General Surgery, who underwent surgery within the scope of the congress. Dr. Ömer Alabaz stated that these live courses will be followed by two-day panels with 151 speakers. Stating that 15 associations supported the congress organized under the chairmanship of the Turkish Ostomy Surgery Association, together with Çukurova University and Adana City Hospital, Alabaz said that, in addition to the live surgeries performed via the link, this method, which is now offered one-on-one, is much more useful for assistants and newly specialized doctors in terms of improving their practices. told.

THE AGE OF COLON-RECTUM CANCER IN THE MEDITERRANEAN IS 30

Adana City Hospital Gastroenterology Surgery Administrative Officer Prof. Dr. Alper Sözek stated that live surgery courses were given in 3 separate cases for the first time in Turkey within the scope of the congress, and shared information about laparoscopic colorectal surgery. Prof. said that colon and rectum cancers are much more common in the Mediterranean Region. Dr. Alper Sözek, Colon and rectum cancer cases, which are seen in the 50s in other regions, have decreased to the 30s in our region due to the meat-based diet and low consumption of vegetables and fruits in the Mediterranean Region and genetic factors. That's why we recommend colonoscopic and endoscopic checks for people over the age of 40 who have risk factors in their families. "There are already routine screenings initiated by the Ministry of Health for people over the age of 50," he said.

WHEN IT IS DELAYED, THE TUMOR SPREADS TO THE LUNG, LIVER AND ABDOMEN.

Emphasizing that colon and rectum cancers are more aggressive in young cases and spread to other organs of the body in case of delay, Sözcü continued as follows:

Especially a person aged 40-45; If they unexpectedly see blood in the toilet or detect changes in the diameter of the stool while defecating normally, they should definitely consult the Gastroenterology polyclinic. We carry out the necessary tests. If treatment is delayed, the first optimistic picture is intestinal obstruction, although it varies from person to person. This at least gives us an alarming sign, but unfortunately we see that in many delayed cases, 40-45 percent of the time the cancer spreads to the liver, lungs or abdominal membrane. Especially colon and rectum cancers are much more aggressive in young patients aged 30-40. We recommend that all patients with poor nutrition and poor defecation habits undergo screening, especially if they have a family history.
